“Apostolos Nikolaidis” Stadium (Panathinaikos F.C.)
The stadium is located in downtown Athens, just North of the Lycabettus hill, on Alexandras Avenue and right across the Supreme Court of Greece.
The official name of the Stadium is “Apostolos Nikolaidis”, after a late president of the Club. Most of the fans though, just call it “Leoforos” (which in Greek means “Avenue”). Leoforos is the first football stadium of the country, built for this specific purpose around 1924.
It was the first stadium in Greece that had a spectators stand (built around 1928) and for many decades it hosted several important domestic and international games. It was the first stadium to use floodlights (1938) and the first one with grass turf (1958).
The capacity of the arena is 16.000 and PS Seating installed them in 2015, including classic, premium and executive football fans’ seats.
